Temporary Structure Cooling & Heating

Cooling for temporary structures

Cooling for temporary structures

Special events such as trade shows, conferences and concerts are often held in large temporary structures or tents. Depending on location and the type of event, heating and cooling may be required for these structures. Most event planners rely on rental systems for these needs. The diagram illustrates a common installation for tent heating and cooling.

Rental equipment typically used to heat and cool tents include the following:

  • A/C or chiller/AHU packages ranging from 10 to 400 tons

  • Air Handler

  • Ducting

  • Engineering and supervision services

  • Installation and maintenance services

  • On-site operation and training.

Typical Customers:

  • Event planners

  • Civic centers, conference centers, exhibition halls

  • Concert promoters

  • Tent rental companies (These companies generally have their own equipment, but may re-rent if they are fully booked, or for large, specialized events.)

  • Sports event organizers (golf tournaments, Olympic events, etc.)

Discovery Questions:

  • Do you need temporary facility heating, cooling, and/or humidity control during your event?

  • Do you have sufficient backup in case of primary A/C system failure?

  • Would a total solution that includes all necessary electric power and temperature control services and support save you time, money, and/or trouble?

Configuration and Installation Issues:

  • Equipment needs to be located as close to the tent as possible.

  • Return air from the conditioned space needs to be used if possible.

  • Be aware of noise considerations.

  • Carefully plan the routing of ductwork to avoid traffic and/or aesthetic problems.
